Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is a pain drug belonging to the group of narcotic pain medications. The drugs from the group of the narcotic pain medications suppress totally the pain for a longer period of time. The narcotic pain drugs help in relieving the pain in a rather specific way. These narcotic pain drugs attach to the opioid receptors which are located in the central nervous system, as well as in the gastro-intestinal tract. These medications fulfill their mission by helping you achieve higher tolerance of pain, lower awareness of pain, as well as inhibit the reaction when pain arises. The thing that these drugs lack is that they do not treat or detect the source of pain, but they simply relieve you from the feeling of pain for the next few hours.

Buprenorphine is a drug, present in the market under the names of Subutex, Buprenex, Temgesix and Suboxone. It is a kind of semi-synthetic opioid and it is suitable for people who are suffering from opiate addiction, especially to those who are addicted to heroin. It came out for the first time in the remote year of 1980. Back then, it was presented as a highly effective analgesic. Today, however, rarely anyone uses this medicine as an analgesic, perhaps because in treating opiate addictions this medicine has proven to be much more effective. However, we should not underestimate its function as analgesic, which is greater than that of morphine for example. For using the most of its analgesic effect, the simple oral use is not enough. Using the method of sublingual administration, you can get from 6 to 8 hours of analgesic effect. However, the tablets for sublingual administration are not the only form buprenorphine can be found in. It can also be taken in the form of skin patches, or an injection shot.

When this medicine is used for opiate addiction, the effect of buprenorphine lasts much longer and it is estimated up to 48 hours of effectiveness. Buprenorphine helps in inhibiting the emerging of the withdrawal symptoms which are an inevitable and painful experience for every patient. It has somewhat bigger function than a regular painkiller which has the function to inhibit mild to moderate pain. Buprenorphine is a step higher than that, it is too strong to be used in case of mild pain, therefore it is used to treat moderate and even very severe pain. It does not look for the source of that pain, but inhibits the brain from detecting pain, feeling pain and reacting to pain. It is not only a good medicine for the drug addicts, it can be used to relieve the pain for the time and after a surgical intervention.

However, there are some things your physician must know about you before prescribing you this medicine. Your physician would surely not recommend you buprenorphine if you are pregnant, you are planning to have a baby, or you are in the phase of breastfeeding. A medicine like buprenorphine might also cause troubles if you have asthmatic issues, liver or kidney malfunction. Since the drugs from the family of narcotic pain medications usually make you fall asleep, you must not take buprenorphine if you have had issues concerning low blood pressure. We have come to the nervous system. It is important that you have not had brain malfunction issues because it is the brain buprenorphine is going to react from. If you have ever had head injuries or history of illnesses concerning the nervous system in your family, you should not take buprenorphine or any other medicine from the narcotic pain medications group.

Finally, it is more than important to take this medicine as prescribed with the strictest discipline. Any inconsistency in the therapy can cause drowsiness, dizziness, difficulties in passing water and other substances, nausea, and vomiting.

This expensive med was prescribed as a way of detoxing from opiates and boy did it work! No unpleasant side affects. Only certain Doctors can prescribe. Mine was a Psych Doctor.

Have been treated by pain management in the past for herniated disks and fibromyalgia. Was on Vicodin 10′s. Didn’t like any of the many pain meds tried until I was put on Suboxone. Due to finances I quit going to pain management and have been dealing with the pain taking tylenol. Would like to have relief from my pain and be able to do more things I enjoy and need to be doing but can’t afford going to the doctor all the time and the shots made me sick and did not help. Is there a real doctor online that can help or can I order legally?
