Diclofenac

Diclofenac is a drug that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory kind of drugs which term is usually abbreviated to NSAID. This family of drugs usually is used for beating fever or in other words as an analgesic and antipyretic. As the very term suggests, the medicines that belong to this group do not contain steroid substances and do not have inflammatory effects on the patients.

Diclofenac represents the sub group of acids and derivates from the NSAI family which means that its main function is reducing hormones which cause inflammation and as all NSAIDs, it has the purpose of a painkiller. It comes in tablets and powder and it is for oral use.

Diclofenac in particular has the main purpose to reduce and even abolish the pain and inflammation in the body caused by arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It can be found under various brand names in the drug market even though you will mostly find it as Voltaren. This drug has also got the purpose of reducing the pain or inflammation caused by any kind of acute injury and it is completely safe to use in case of menstrual pains or dysmenorrhea.

The powder from this drug (Cambia) is used to treat from mere headaches to difficult migraine issues. The origin of this medicine takes us back to the remote year of 1973 when the grand pharmaceutical company Ciba-Geigy, now better known as Novartis was proud to be the first home of this new drug. Six years later, Diclofenac has been introduced in the UK pharmacy market and it has proven to be a very well developed and efficient medicine from the very beginning of its existence in the market.
