Etodolac
Etodolac is a amino acid aggregate which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs for short, which are used to relieve mild to temperate pain and, as the very name suggests, they do not contain steroid substances within the aggregate and are optimal for relieving pain, inflammations and swellings, as well as treating sudden harmless acute pains such as headache or menstrual pains. Some of these drugs have the function of antipyretics and are appropriate to use in case of fever conditions. In simple words, these non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the perfect solution for treating pain caused by an acute or chronic condition.
As an evidence of the efficiency of this drug, it is enough to mention the fact that in January, the beginning of 1991 the Food and Drug Administration has approved the usage of etodolac. On the market they are mostly found under the name of Lodine.
Etodolac is used for relieving acute pains, swellings and inflammations, as well as treating the various appearances of arthritis, most commonly encountered of which are the osteoarthritis and the rheumatoid arthritis. Etodolac is a medicine intended for oral use. Etodolac appears in two forms, one of which is the capsules which can be of 200 and of 300 milligrams and the tablets which can be of 400, 500 and before recently there are Etodolac tablets of 600 milligrams. The recommended daily dosage a patient should take is up to 1000 milligrams, even though there are many patients which experienced the most benefits when taking a 1200 milligrams daily dosage. Nevertheless, every patient is expected to react to a medicine in their own way, so, this article should not be your only dosage guide, but a consultation on the subject with the doctor who prescribed this medicine to you might be of great help. Even though it is used in case of migraine attacks, do not buy it on your own device but wait permission from your doctor because there are patients who after they take an etodolac, their migraine condition gets even worse. In case you have experienced the kind of issue described above, you have to contact your doctor as soon as you can. Another thing you should also bear in mind when the use of this medicine comes to question is that you should not chew it or crush it, but take it as it is with a full glass of water of 240 milliliters at least, and it is mostly recommendable to take it right after you have your meal or while having it to prevent further issues concerning the digestive system.
In case your prescribed dosage does not give the expected effect on you, consult your doctor, maybe you should take up a different kind of medicine. We do say this in purpose because, unfortunately, there are many patients that have made that horrible mistake and increased or made it more frequent the daily dosage of etodolac. The result of that may be disastrous and in most cases it is in the form of stomach or intestine bleeding. Another piece of advice when you do not use this medicine on regular basis but when the acute pain arises: you should take etodolac when the pain begins, do not wait for the pain to become stronger because in that case it will not provide the desired effect. Remember, etodolac as every NSAI drug is used only for mild to moderate pain.
Finally, not all people can take etodolac. People who show allergic reactions to drugs of the NSAI group of medicines should by no means use etodolac, this also goes for people with cardiac or asthmatic issues, especially for people who recently have undergone a heart bypass procedure, then it is not recommendable for pregnant women because it is expected to damage the circulation system of the fetus during the time of pregnancy which will bring their consequences even after the baby is being born.
